Lyndal "Sonny" Daniel of
Trenton, Georgia passed away on December 29, 2025.
Sonny was born on February 6, 1938, in Shiloh, Alabama, the third child of Anabel and Logan Daniel. From an early age, he demonstrated determination, discipline, and a love of learning.
A gifted student-athlete, Sonny graduated from Davis High School with honors. While there, he excelled in both academics and athletics, earning varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. Sonny went on to earn his undergraduate degree from West Georgia College, where he was a standout on the baseball team. A shoulder injury dashed his hopes of playing baseball after college, but it never dampened his love of competition.
After college, Sonny earned a post-graduate degree from the Southern College of Pharmacy at Mercer University, and he became a Medical Specialist in the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Sonny's commitment to service and care for others would become a defining theme of his life.
In 1961, Sonny married the love of his life, Glenda (Rogers) Daniel of Ider, Alabama. Sonny and Glenda settled on the Georgia side of Sand Mountain just above Trenton. With an immeasurable amount of support from Glenda, Sonny owned and operated Price Pharmacy in Trenton for decades. Through his work there, Sonny cared for generations of local residents and was widely respected for his kindness, professionalism, and dedication to his community.
As a sports enthusiast, Sonny spent years in the stands cheering on his children and was an active Baylor and GPS booster. Sonny also caught the golfing bug, and to no one's surprise, he quickly became a low-handicap player, winning championships at multiple clubs and cherishing time on the course with friends and family. And as family members could attest, if you picked up a golf club anywhere near Sonny, you were officially "coachable." He offered swing advice with enthusiasm and confidence, whether it was requested or not. Sometimes it was exactly what you needed, and sometimes you just smiled, nodded, and took another swing, all while hearing him bark, "chase it!" or "make an athletic move!" That was Sonny, encouraging and always believing you had another great shot in you.
Even after Sonny retired from a lengthy career as a pharmacist, he never really stopped being one for his family. He remained the family's go-to resource for any and all questions. And long before hand sanitizer was everywhere, Sonny was always ready with alcohol prep pads, and many of us quietly believed he missed his true calling and should have been the inventor of Purell. It was just another way he took care of the people around him with practicality and foresight.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda, and his three siblings, Lavon Daniel, Marty Holden, and Gail Kucera.
Sonny is survived by his three children, Regina Holman, Roger Daniel, and Jimmy Daniel (Cade); his six grandchildren, Eric Daniel (Emily), Betsy Schroder (Patrick), Megan Daniel, Anna Holman, Jay Daniel, and Catherine Daniel; and his great-granddaughter, Ellie Schroder.
Sonny will be remembered for his integrity, quiet generosity, devotion to family, and lifelong commitment to serving others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, both personally and professionally.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
