Thomas Daniel

Thomas Daniel, a beloved family man and dedicated worker, passed away peacefully at his home in Mercer, Tennessee, on December 27, 2025. He was born on April 11, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Norman Eugene Daniel and Bessie Mae Cox Daniel, who preceded him in death. Thomas lived a full life, marked by love for his family and a steadfast commitment to his work.
A proud veteran, Thomas served in the US Army from 1968 to 1972, a testament to his dedication to his country. After his service, he embarked on a fulfilling career that included working for many years at Kilgore and Colonial Bakery, as well as serving as a carrier for the Jackson Sun newspaper. For the last decade of his life, he proudly took on the role of job supervisor at Kevin's Logging, LLC, where he worked alongside his son, Kevin, forming a bond through labor that only deepened their relationship.
Those who knew him well remember Thomas as a man who cherished his family above all. He held deep affection for his daughter, Michelle McCommon and her husband, Mike. His sons, Michael Daniel and Kevin Daniel, and their wives, Cristie and Trina, held special places in his heart. He loved his children's spouses like his own. Thomas was also a doting grandfather, finding immense pride and joy in his grandchildren: Logan McCommon, Mackenzie McCommon, Lane Daniel, Carson and Connor Daniel, Carley Ross and Mark, Chloey Eubanks and Cole, and Lindsey Russell. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Myles, Morgan, and Hallie Grace.
Thomas was a man of strong faith, devoted to his church community at Rocky Springs Baptist Church. His love for his faith was evident in the way he led his life-tirelessly working for his loved ones, nurturing relationships, and imparting wisdom to the younger generations. He adored spending time outside, tending to his garden, and relished working in the woods, a passion that reflected his connection to nature and the world around him.
Thomas is survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Hatch, Betty Weaver, and Bobby Daniel, as well as his sister-in-law, Helen Daniel. The memory of his late brother, Paul Daniel, and sister, Ora Mae Williams, will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held on December 30, 2025, at Vernon Cemetery in Toone, Tennessee, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by interment. The family invites all who were touched by Thomas's kindness and spirit to come and share in this remembrance of a truly remarkable man. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
