With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lynn Earl Bangs on October 16th, 2024, at the age of 84 in his home. Lynn was the foundation of our family and fiercely protective of those he loved. His size alone could be intimidating to some; but he was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Lynn enjoyed time spent with his family which included fishing, camping, gardening, and cook-outs. He was a man of integrity and honor and will be a centerpiece in the hearts of many.
Lynn was born January 25th, 1940, in Success MS. He graduated from Orange Grove High in Gulfport MS. He worked in serval occupations if effort to provide the best for his family. He spent the bulk of his working life as a longshoreman from where he retired and was a member of the International Longshoreman Association No. 1303. Lynn also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ishmael and Norma Mae Bangs, his brother Ivan “Sonny” Bangs, Great Granddaughter Emma Lynn Bobinger and his daughter Lisa Bobinger.
He will be missed by the love of his life and wife of 64 years Linda, his son Kenneth Bangs (Tamara), daughter Karen Cadle (Mark) and a sister Ona Mae “Bootsie” Carson.
Lynn, better known as “Papa’’, will be remembered by his grandchildren Patrick Bobinger (Emily), Ty Cadle (Jody), Joshua Cadle (Paige), Beth Seymour (JD), Cati Nyhagen, Lath Wathke, Nate Wathke, and Sarah Mooney (Daniel) and great- grandchildren Connor Bobinger, Dawson Cadle, Braxton and Jace Seymour, Lilly Russell, Luke Stringfellow, Leah Overlock, and Odin Mooney. In addition, he will be forever in the hearts of Kim Nguyen (Ricky) and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank Jena Brewer Manteufel for all the loving care she has given to Lynn and continues to grace Linda with every day. Also, we are grateful to Memorial Hospital for providing care and compassion to Lynn, Pattford Medical Services for facilitating his wish to come home, and Taylor, from Vital Care, for her empathy and time she spent caring for Lynn and the family. Additionally, we appreciate all the support, kind words, and food we have received from friends and family. Although we are heartbroken, we know we are truly blessed!
