Lynn Lensmire was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, on September 5, 1941, to Gladys Rosentreter Manicke and Walter Manicke. She died with her husband John by her side on September 28, 2025.
Growing up, Lynn loved animals and the outdoors and she dreamt of being a teacher. She met John at the fair, where he was selling cheese as part of 4-H.
Lynn and John were married on July 30, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in Marathon, Wisconsin. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past summer.
Lynn is survived by her children Tim (Audrey), Sue (Jim), Jeff (Gail), Amber (Ken), and Summer (Kevin); her grandchildren Mandy (Jenna), Kyle (Laura), John (Ariel), Sarah, Megan, Andrew, Grace, Noa, Aliya, Jacob, Isabelle, and Krystal; and great grandchildren Roman and Violette. Lynn and John’s daughter, Heidi, passed away in 1977.
Lynn was devoted to her children and made sure they did their homework. She enjoyed sewing, making applesauce and beefbirds, and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
After the kids were grown, Lynn went back to school and fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher. She taught 5th grade in Wausau for 20 years.
After her retirement, Lynn fulfilled another dream, to write children’s books. Her four books featured her and John’s beloved dog, Chaucer.
