Alberta Merlynn Walker McDaniel, 82, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, June 1, 2025 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Lynn was born July 11, 1942 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She grew up in the Idaho Falls and Shelley areas and enjoyed playing basketball, playing drums in the high school band, and riding horses. Lynn graduated from Shelley High School in 1960.

Lynn married John Fredrick McDaniel and primarily lived in Pocatello, where they raised three children. She had a 47-year career in healthcare as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, first working at LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello and finally retiring from Portneuf Medical Center in 2010. Lynn enjoyed volunteering her spare time with the Boy Scouts of America organization specifically in Cub Scouting. Lynn and Fred spent time together traveling, cheering their children and grandchildren on in their respective activities, and hosting large family gatherings.

As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lynn served in several callings, including teaching Relief Society, Primary and Cub Scouts.

She is survived by her brother, Arlen Walker of Pocatello, daughters Jan (Drew) Damron of Pocatello, Jodi (Clint) Brown of Pocatello, son JF (Anna) McDaniel of Meridian, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, parents, Kenneth and Alberta Walker, and brother, Brent Walker.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. A viewing will be held prior beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls, ID.
