Lynn Verl Walker of Bald Knob was born on June 18, 1941 to Temple Uric Walker and Alta Savannah Gay of Floral, Arkansas. As a teenager, Lynn loved playing baseball with his brothers, and was encouraged to go on to play baseball professionally. The story goes that he would pitch the ball so hard that only his brother, Dean, would play catcher for him. In 1962, Lynn married the love of his life, Marilyn Larene DeClue, at the Banner Church of Christ, making her his Mrs. Walker, forever and always.
Instead of pursuing baseball, he went into factory work with Bryce Regal in Memphis, TN in the 1970s. In 1976, Mr. Bryce relocated Lynn and his family to Bald Knob to be part of the team that would be solely responsible for starting the Searcy Bryce location. While working at Bryce, Lynn made many lifelong friendships that continued into the present years. Lynn was always proud that his grandson, Hadyn, is carrying on the tradition by working at Bryce.
Lynn retired in 2000 from Bryce Corporation. In his retirement, he spent his time hunting, fishing, babysitting grandchildren, and camping. He enjoyed doing carpentry and was a big help to his daughter Tracy and David when they built their house. There wasn't much Lynn couldn't do! He was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He always had the best tomato crop!
After a few years of retirement, Lynn returned to the work force as a van driver for Carti. Working with his daughter, Lisa, he had a special connection with the patients at Carti as he won his own battle with cancer.
In his official retirement, Lynn was an avid hunter, Razorback fan, coffee drinker, gardener, and family man. He loved cooking breakfast for his family.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn Walker; brother, Roby Butler of Batesville; 2 daughters, Tracy (David) Wallace of Bald Knob and Lisa Layton of Searcy; favorite daughter-in-law, Kati Walker of Bald Knob; 5 grandchildren, Montana (William) Hutchens, Macy Walker, Hunter Layton, Hadyn Layton, and Hannah Blagg. Lynn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved dearly.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Albert Butler, Beatrice Clouse, Jerry Walker, Dean Walker, and Minnie Webster; and son, Greg Walker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery at Concord, Arkansas.
