Lynne Marie (Anderson) Berg, of Cannon Falls passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Lynne was the eldest daughter of William and Delores (Johnson) Anderson and was born on June 11, 1957 in Superior, WI.  She spent her childhood years growing up in Red Wing, MN with her three brothers.  When she was in high school her family moved to Cannon Falls where she graduated in 1975.  After high school, she attended Mankato State where she was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

She was introduced to her husband, Mark Berg, by their brothers because they both needed dates to their company Christmas parties.  Lynne agreed to go out with Mark because he drove a nice car – a Camaro.  They were united in marriage July 1, 1978.  Mark and Lynne were blessed with 3 children that they loved and raised in Cannon Falls.

Three things were important to Lynne – faith, family, and friends.  She loved her family fiercely and taught them to love God first and foremost.  She saw her family as a trophy and her greatest achievement.  She beamed with pride whenever she talked about her kids or her beloved grandchildren.

Lynne was full of life and served her church and community well.  She was an active member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church.  She served on the church council, call committees, and chaperoned many youth trips.  She enjoyed singing in the praise band and preparing many meals for the congregation throughout her years.  She followed in her father’s footsteps and served many years on the Cannon Falls City Council.  She was proud to be the elected the first female mayor of the city.

Lynne had many hobbies throughout her life.  She enjoyed golfing, sewing/knitting, reading, cooking/baking, gardening and playing the trombone.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mark; three children and five grandchildren, Ben (Maria) of Reedsburg, WI and their children, Aiden, Lydia and Bella, Bill of Cannon Falls, and Megan (Lucas) Culbertson of Bellevue, NE and their children, Shane and Paige; and brothers, Greg (Tania) Anderson of Post Falls, ID, Doug (Anne) Anderson of Cannon Falls, and Rick (Lynn) Anderson of Waupaca, WI along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barb and Carol Berg; and brother-in-law, Al Berg.

Those who journeyed ahead of Lynne to heaven are her parents, Bill and Delores Anderson; parents-in-law, Arleigh Sr. and Deloris Berg; and brother-in-law, Arleigh Berg Jr.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 from 4-7 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3 pm, with visitation from 2-3 pm, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. The recording of her service is found below. Interment will be at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. There will be a meal to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St Ansgar’s Lutheran Church Youth Programs.
