LYNNE ALLISON BRUNER
Lynne Allison Bruner, 65, died October 3, 2025, in her sleep at her home in Kelseyville. She was born on her mother's birthday, May 18, in 1960 in Oakland, California. Barbara always said it was the best present she could have received. Lynne grew up in the Bay Area with her younger siblings Anne and Thomas, and despite having a serious congenital heart condition that limited her activities, was a busy, active, and creative child. She learned to sail, did riflery, and particularly loved arts and crafts. The summer before eighth grade, she took up the violin so that she could play in the orchestra at school.
Lynne treasured all the time she spent at Clear Lake growing up, where her family had a vacation home. After graduating from UC Davis with a degree in economics and passing the CPA exam, she made Lake County her home. She loved the beauty of the area and the slower pace of life. She quickly became fully involved in the community, working as a CPA and joining the symphony to resume playing violin. She also became the Treasurer for the Lake County Symphony Association, a position she still held at her passing. For a time, she and fellow symphony members formed a string quartet that performed at weddings and various functions.
After her heart condition worsened, Lynne became the recipient of a heart transplant in 2002. That opened up a new world of activities for her for the first time in her life. She embraced hiking and kayaking and took full advantage of the natural world around Clear Lake. She loved learning about the stars and the birds and the natural history of the Lake. She was a lifetime member and frequent visitor to the state and national park systems. She also traveled extensively, visiting places as far away as Antarctica and St. Petersburg, and as close to home as Fort Bragg and Clear Lake State Park. She had recently joined the Board of the Lake County Land Trust.
Lynne love crafting and quilting and her Halloween-themed quilt just won Best in Show at the 2025 Lake County Fair. She was always the person to initiate gatherings and activities. She kept close friends from high school and college, and made new, lifelong friends through work and community activities. She was an incredibly upbeat and positive person, and even as her health began to decline in recent years from issues related to her heart condition, she never complained. She passed unexpectedly but quietly in her sleep, with a full calendar for the year ahead. Her father, Lee Bruner, and her brother, Thomas Bruner, predeceased her. She is survived by her mother Barbara Bruner, sister and brother-in-law Anne and Jeff Nash, nephew John Nash and his wife Jenna, niece Katherine Nash and her wife Cassidy Coan, two grandnephews, and her dog Louie. She was also a wonderful auntie to her younger cousins and the children of several dear friends. She had many wonderful friends in Lake County and beyond who helped to make her life so joyful and well-lived. She was a shining light in many, many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. To receive information when the details are settled, please email
