Lynnette McBride Richards, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher passed away on March 8, 2025 in Provo, Utah. She was 82 years old.
Lynnette was the cherished wife of Ronald Howard Richards for almost sixty years, with whom she raised four children: Joseph Ronald Richards (Christina), Paul McBride Richards (Scarlette), Emily Jane Gillespie (Brad), and Thomas Howard Richards (Elisha). Her legacy, beauty, and intellect continue through her 17 adored grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, especially in her retired years, as many attended colleges in Utah.
She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Joseph Scott McBride (Pat), and is survived by her three other younger siblings: Ford McBride (Lynne), Stan McBride, and Connie Mayer (Gary, deceased).
Born on July 16, 1942, in Alameda, California to the late Max Elliott and Jeanette Ford McBride, Lynnette was raised in a loving home. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.
Lynnette was a helpful, kind, and loving big sister and always spoke positively of her siblings throughout her life. She showed immense respect and compassion to her parents their entire lives. She was a brilliant young student and graduated from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, California a year early at age 16 to attend Brigham Young University. She graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development and spent another year earning her teacher’s certificate. She married Ronald Howard Richards on June 18, 1966, when they were sealed for time and eternity in the Oakland, California Temple. She taught school in Utah and California before having her children. Lynnette returned to teaching full-time in the Clovis, California Unified School District after her youngest son turned five. There she was a favorite admired teacher who continued to teach hundreds of children how to read and write until she retired after teaching 33 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed family history work, loved attending education week, liked traveling, and was always learning. She valued her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and as a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers.
Lynnette enjoyed spending time at her homes in Provo, Utah, and Fresno, California. She lived a long, happy life full of class with a never-failing testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She spent her last day on a walk with her devoted husband, commenting on the beauty of the snow-capped mountains near her home.
