Interment will follow at Creel Memorial Gardens in Reeves under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home, with Reverend Rick Pavlu and Reverend Jared Pavlu officiating.
Visitation will be held at First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville on Tuesday, February 25, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and on Wednesday, February 26, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Reverend M.C. Green's journey began on August 24, 1932, in the small town of Bel, Louisiana, and carried him across the world, leaving a legacy of faith, resilience, and love. Although his early years were marked by tragedy, he made the decision to trust, follow, and serve God. At just 17, he answered the call to ministry, and for over 75 years, he preached the gospel with passion and unwavering conviction.
For 43 years, he pastored First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville, serving alongside his beloved wife,
Frankie Lou Slaydon Green, until her passing in 2000. Together, they raised their children to love and serve the Lord. His greatest joy was leaving an inheritance-not just of material things, but of faith and godly principles. His ministry took him across the country and around the world, from small villages to great cities. He helped build churches, preached in Africa and Europe, met with world leaders, and even prayed with President Ronald Reagan in the White House.
Bro. Green was a man of many passions. He had an eye for cars, especially Corvettes and Mercedes-and a love for Stetson hats, cowboy boots, cattle, and horses. He was a master storyteller, and his greatest passions were the Word of God and poetry. Though he could quote much of the Bible from memory, he still studied it daily, teaching his family to love, obey, and trust God above all else.
In 2002, he married LouAnn Cooper Green, who faithfully stood by his side for the past 22 years. His life was a testament to faithfulness, perseverance, and an unshakable trust in God. He helped build many churches and homes during his lifetime, but the most important house he built was not one made of wood and nails, but the safe place he created in the hearts of his family and the eternal legacy he left us all.
Reverend M.C. Green is survived by His children, Mark Green and wife Sissy, Bryan Green and wife Melanie, and Beverly Pavlu and husband Rick. He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Jason, Corrie, Jared, Layna, McClinton (Mac), McKenna, and Jackson, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife of 22 years, LouAnn Green, and her children, Dana Green and husband Curt, Tara Wheeler and husband Richard, and Kaye Palacios and husband Joseph. He was blessed with seven step-grandchildren, as well as three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Melba Green; his sister, Ollie Mae Green; his brother, Irvin Green; and his beloved wife of 47 years, Frankie Lou Slaydon Green.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Green, Jared Pavlu, McClinton (Mac) Green, Jackson Green, Brenton Pavlu, Braylon Green, and Levi Green. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Frank Stephens, Charles Welch, Jim Wise, Calvin Braxton, Ralph Cook, and Johnny Horton.
