Mabel was the wife of the late Frank J. De Silva Jr. and is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Andrew) De Silva Stevens of Kohala and stepchildren, Bernadette Marzo, Patrick (Patty Lee) De Silva, and Susan (Dennis) Ancheta, all of Hilo. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Daisy Wyatt (Washington State) and 2 brothers, Kenneth (Dale) Waltjen and Ernest (Maddie) Waltjen, of Hilo. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Mabel retired from Business Services Hawaii and was an active and dedicated member of numerous community organizations in Hilo. She was a passionate advocate for Hawaii's Veterans, a cause that was close to her heart.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 12:30 pm at Ola'a First Hawaiian Church Hall (17-516 Hale Pule Loop, Kurtistown, HI 96760). Burial will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 8:30 am at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 (110 Laimana St, Hilo, HI 96720).
