Mabel Kinder Obituary
Mabel showed promise as a pianist at a young age in her hometown of Owensville and studied with Marshall Mauer and Eugene Haynes. She attended her last two years of high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and was trained in piano performance and pedagogy at Lincoln University, Drake University, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she studied with Ruth Slenczynska. She lived in Columbia, Missouri for 50 years and developed a successful studio where she taught performance and composition. Mabel was a wonderful and kind teacher, whether her student was a toddler or adult. She also was well-known for her fancy iced and hand decorated Christmas cookies!
Mabel was preceded in death by her father Ray, mother Flora, and brother John Kinder.
Burial will be in the Kinder family plot at Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of services, a Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held in Columbia, Missouri, location, date and time to be announced.
