Princeton, NC: Ms. Mabel Johnson Massengill, age 89, of Princeton passed away on January 22, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the Rose and Graham funeral home in Four Oaks. Rev. Lyn Epps will officiate. Burial will follow at Piney Grove PFWB Church Cemetery in Four Oaks.
Mabel was born on June 26, 1936 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Jonah Johnson and Daisy Barbour Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Glen Massengill; son, Talmadge Glen Massengill, Jr.; brothers, Joel Johnson, Carl Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Lyndin Johnson, Keith Johnson; step mother, Mary Jackson. Mabel loved to garden and tend to her flowers, especially roses. She found joy in bringing dying flowers back to life. She loved her country music and loved to “pilfer“ at the discount and thrift stores. Mabel was a loyal employee of Sprint (formally Carolina Telephone) for 38 years.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Massengill and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Isaiah, Gabby, and Lorena; sisters, Jackie Benson, Brenda Atkins and Teresa Adams and husband, Greg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Neuse Charter School Athletics c/o Connor Pulley at 909 M. Durwood Stephenson Pkwy, Smithfield NC 27577, in honor of Mabel.
