Mabel Elizabeth Pearson, known to all as Betty, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025 at the Heartis Assisted Living Center in North Venice, Florida at the age of 94. Born on May 23, 1931 in Sterling, Betty was the daughter of Frank and Dorothy Lanciani.
Betty married Irving T. Pearson at the First Church of Sterling in 1954. They were soon off to Germany, courtesy of the US Army, and were able to tour widely in Europe. Upon returning, the couple resided on Maple Street above the Sterling Common until moving to Rotonda West, Florida in 1995. A graduate of Becker College in Worcester, class of 1951, Betty worked as an executive secretary in the insurance and retail sectors in Worcester until her retirement.
Betty was a Past President of the Sterling Woman's Club and Sterling Garden Club, and a member of the First Church of Sterling, where she served as Deaconess. She also served on Sterling's Planning Board and Recreation Committee.
Betty and Irving were blessed to enjoy many trips to Europe, cruises, ski trips, summer spells in New Hampshire, and adventures crewing on friend's yachts and sailboats over the years. They enjoyed life to the fullest. Betty's beloved husband Irving passed away in 2012, and her brother Curtis in 2017. Betty is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and her Aunt Beverly, as well as close friends in Florida and Massachusetts. Her warmth and humor and missed by all.
Betty will be interred in Hillside Cemetery in Sterling next to her husband Irving in a private ceremony.
