Mabel Marie Shockney

Mabel "Marie" Shockney, 84, of Westminster, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born October 24, 1940 in Mt. Savage, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Zelda (Rizer) Dom. She was the loving wife of the late John E. Shockney, who predeceased her in 2012. Marie was a proud graduate of Myersdale High School, class of 1958. She dedicated her career as a bookkeeper for Super Fresh grocery store, until her retirement. A talented seamstress, Marie created beautiful wedding gowns and handcrafted quilts that remain treasured family keepsakes. She found joy in gardening and cooking, and her love for family was evident as she delighted in passing down her cherished cookie recipes to her grandchildren. Surviving are children Anthony Shockney of Charles Town, WVA and Maria Jenkins (Jay) of Elloree, SC; siblings Anna Marriott (the late Richard Marriott) of Fort Mill, SC, James Dom (Louise) of Littlestown, PA, Bradley Dom of Wellersburg, PA; daughter-in-law Susan Martz; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by sons David A. Martz and John Shockney; and brother George Dom. The family will welcome friends on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
