Mac Thomas Lynch, age 53, passed away on 1/23/26. Mac was a resident of
Waterford, Michigan; and former resident of
Royal Oak, Michigan; but he loved to spend time in Gaylord, Michigan. He was born on 9/10/72 in
Royal Oak, Michigan and graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1990. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1995. After graduating, he went on to work in the automotive industry for almost 30 years. When he wasn't working, he loved to spend time outdoors, golfing, hunting, and in his younger years, fishing in the Florida Keys.
Pre-deceased by his parents, Tom and Connie; Mac was known as a very loving son. He developed his passion for golfing and the outdoors from his dad and his caring nature from his mom. While Mac's love of golf was growing, so was Connie's, and eventually they would spend many hours together on the course. Shortly before Tom passed in 2018, Tom and Mac went on a hunting trip in the mountains of Colorado, where they got a trophy mule deer, a memory that Mac treasured deerly.
If you know the Lynches, you know they love a good song, and Mac was no exception. Whether he was singing along to the Grease soundtrack in the jumper seat with his sister Sarah on the way to Lake Powell in 1980 or playing his guitar by the fire, he knew how to carry a tune. Just a couple of years later in 1983, Mac's sense of style peaked as his musical taste evolved when he purchased a Michael Jackson Thriller jacket, or so says his big brother Sam.
Though he had no kids of his own, Uncle Mac loved his nieces and nephew unconditionally. When Uncle Mac's Jeep pulled in the driveway, there were always shouts of excitement at his appearance. He was always patient with them, even when his nieces, Katie and Erin, accidentally overflowed his bathtub with soap suds. He was known as a man who enjoyed living in solitude, but his house on Lake 27 was the place to be in the summers of 2013 and 2014 as the entire family descended upon Mac's sanctuary to spend time with Connie as she was navigating some health struggles. Pontoon boat rides, ghost stories over the campfire, dinner out on the deck, and watching Sharknado or Iron Man on a rainy day will never be forgotten.
We are grateful for the time we had with Mac. He was smart, kind, funny, charismatic, and so much more. If there was one thing he was known for, it was the love that he held in his heart for his family and friends. He is deeply missed by his siblings, Sam (Karen) Lynch, Sarah (John) Hassell; his nieces and nephew, Nate, Erin, Katie, Maggie, Grace, and Eden; and his extended family and friends. A common thread is that we all loved him dearly and will never forget him.
There will be no service at this time, but rather a small family gathering to celebrate his life will take place at a later date… as Mac's life is one worth celebrating.
