Harold Gene McFarland "Mac", age 92, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on April 23, 2025, at Lake Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 25, 1932, in Sparta, Kentucky; a son of Ernest McFarland and Susie Shelley. He was united in marriage to Virginia Harvey on May 24, 1952.
Mac proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. During his time in the Air Force as a flight engineer, he was in two wars, moved to two countries and six states.
Mac later owned Central Illinois Marine in St. Joseph, Illinois from 1976 until 1994. Mac loved to tell stories and was proud to serve his country. You could catch Mac cruising down the road on his Harley Davidson or attending a car show. He enjoyed going fishing with his friends and family.
Mac is survived by his sons Rick McFarland (Joy) and Glenn McFarland (Norma); daughter Robbin Sawyer (Henry); sister Barbara "Sissy" Fain; four grandchildren Cassidy, Danielle, Kylie and Hayley and four great grandchildren Saoirse, Mira, Phoebe and Ellie. Harold was preceded by his wife Virginia McFarland, parents Ernest and Susie McFarland and brother Robert (Bobby) McFarland.
Friends will be received from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with service following at 2:00 pm, on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at Hedges Scott Millard Funeral Home in Osage Beach.
Private family services at Missouri Veterans Cemetery Springfield, Missouri.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to Harper Chapel United Methodist Church.
