Mack Aaron "Ace" Otting

Mack Aaron "Ace" Otting, known to family and friends as Aaron or Pawpaw, passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on September 17, 1935, in Cartersville, Georgia, Aaron was the beloved son of the late Carthern and Annie Ruth Otting. He is also preceded in death by his son, David Otting. A lifelong resident of Cartersville, Aaron was a well-respected mentor to many, affectionately known as "Ace" by those he taught and guided.
Aaron had a deep passion for the outdoors, especially bass fishing on Lake Weiss. Known for his expertise, he shared his knowledge freely, inspiring many local anglers. He spent over three decades running Sportsman's Supply in Cartersville, where he built lasting relationships with customers and friends alike. After retirement, he dedicated much of his time to tournament fishing and cherished days out on Lake Weiss, perfecting his skills and teaching others the art of reeling in trophy bass.
Aaron is lovingly remembered by his family, including his wife, Elaine Otting; children, Donna Cobb (Doug), Kim Bryan (Kevin), and Kristy Bramlett (Shane); grandchildren, Kari Hodge (Guy), Kelly Keown (Mike), Tiffany Otting (Lisa), Ian Otting, Miles Otting, Dylan Knight, Tate Mathis (Kaitlyn), Anna Caroline Mathis (fiancé, Drew McKaig), and Lauren Burns; and great grandchildren, Mallory Hodge, Linken Keown, Ross Margraves, and Adyson Kate Mathis.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Aaron's life at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Georgia, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30pm before the service, followed by interment at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Ian Otting, Miles Otting, Dylan Knight, Tate Mathis, Billy Henson, and Doug Cobb.Honorary pallbearers are Terry White, Gerald Barge, Gene Jenkins, and Bobby Wood.
