Madeleine "Maddy" (Lynch) Donnelly, 98, of Chelmsford died Wednesday July

16,2025 with her family by her side.

She was the wife of the late Thomas "Duke" E. Donnelly.

Born in Saugus, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and

Madeleine P. Lynch. When she was a child, she and her family moved to Lowell,

Massachusetts. Madeleine attended Lowell public schools and graduated from Lowell

High School. She also took courses at the Lowell Technical College.

Madeleine worked for Newbury Department Store, Raytheon Company, Bertrand

Pharmacy, and the Middlesex Registry of Deeds. However, the job that brought her the

greatest happiness was the years of being a homemaker and raising her son.

Maddy loved all the cats, canaries and dogs that graced her life. She was an avid

reader, especially books of poetry and of history. She enjoyed music, dancing, the arts

and making crafts. Many family and friends have ceramic pieces painted by Maddy.

Maddy was renowned in the family for her memory, recounting, usually with wit and

humor, not only stories of the family and friends but also of the many world events that

occurred during her lifetime.

Madeleine was a woman of great faith and a parishioner of Saint Mary Parish,

Chelmsford. She was a member of the Guild of Saint Clare. In her youth, she was a

member of the Catholic Daughters.

Madeleine, known as "Maddy" to her family and friends, will be greatly missed by

her family and friends.

Madeleine is survived by her son, Thomas "Tom" H. Donnelly of Chelmsford;

Sister-in-laws Rita Lynch of Florida and Mary Yang Lynch of New Hampshire; and many

nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Madeleine was predeceased by her husband, Thomas "Duke" E. Donnelly; her

sister Lorraine Connolly and her husband Donald; brothers Thomas Lynch and his wife

Mary, Camille Lynch, Peter H. Lynch and his wife Florence, and George Lynch. Her niece

Anna Maria Lynch and her nephew Thomas A. Lynch. Her sister-is-laws Mary Murphy and

her husband Joseph, Helen Moulton and her husband Melvin Moulton. Her brother-in-law

Hugh Donnelly. Her niece-in-law Mary Louise Morse. Her nephews-in-law David Moulton

and Richard Murphy.
