Madeleine Wagoner, 87, a beloved resident of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Madeleine was born on February 26, 1938, in New Albany, Indiana, to Kurt Barth and Grace Jeffs. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Rutchie Wagoner. Together, they shared a life full of adventure and entrepreneurship-starting with a sand and rock business, then opening Allendale Resort in Branson, Missouri. Their journey continued to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they lived for eight years, following horse races. They later returned back home to their residence in Miami, Oklahoma. There, they owned and operated Ol' Jake's Furniture Store and Flea Market until retirement.
Madeleine and Rutchie had a deep love for rodeos, horse races, and the NFR, often spending their spare time enjoying these events. In later years, Madeleine found joy helping Christi Leonard at the local dance studio, playing pool volleyball with her friends at Bearskin, and worshiping with her church family at Fairland First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt Barth and Grace Jeffs; her husband, Rutchie Wagoner; and her sister, Judy Horner.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Rick Wagoner and Betty of Miami, Oklahoma, and Terry Wagoner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her siblings David Jeffs, Ray Jeffs and wife Carol, Mike Jeffs and Nellie, Patty Schrader and husband Ron Schrader; her grandchildren Tony Wagoner, Cody Wagoner, Morgan Wagoner and Melissa of Miami, Oklahoma. Her only grand-daughter, Mesaann Kirby and husband Jeffrey of Miami, Oklahoma; and her great-granddaughters, Montana Walls and Taylor Wagoner.
Madeleine also leaves behind numerous friends and extended family members, all of whom were touched by her warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit.
Madeleine lived a full, joyful life marked by love, family, and friendship. Her legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
