Madeline "Karen" Cory, 69, of West Tawakoni, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, with her loving daughter by her side.
Born on November 16, 1954, in San Marcos, Texas, she was the daughter of William Eugene "Gene" and Dorris Jewel (Garlington) Cory. Throughout her life, Karen was known for her kindness, vibrant spirit, and the love she shared with those around her.
An accomplished artist, Karen expressed her creativity through various artistic mediums, including painting, sculpting, and working with clay. She was also a dedicated art teacher at Terrell Middle School for 27 years, inspiring countless students before her retirement. Her passion for art extended to her personal life, where she found joy in gardening, cultivating beautiful blooms and lush greenery that brought life to her surroundings.
In addition to her artistic pursuits and teaching, Karen was very active in her community of West Tawakoni, contributing her time and talents to enhance the lives of those around her. In her honor, the community will be hosting an event showcasing and selling her art pieces, celebrating her legacy and the joy she brought to others.
Karen is survived by her loving daughter, Mona Jackson, and her boyfriend, Tyler Alexander; three grandchildren, Keith Jackson, Piper Jackson, and Allison Jackson; along with a host of loving extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents in 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Liver Foundation in honor of her compassionate nature. You can give by visiting their website at www.liverfoundation.org.
Karen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
