Laveda McCartney

Laveda McCartney, 80, a devoted mother, sister, and servant of her community, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Garland, Texas.

Born on September 4, 1945, in Paris, Texas, to the late Andrew Stout and Virgie Benningfield, Laveda grew up with a deep appreciation for family and faith. She was a long-time, vibrant member of Lavon Baptist Church, where her presence was felt in every corner. From her tireless volunteer work to her many years caring for the little ones in the children's ministry, Laveda's heart for service was unmatched.

Beyond her church walls, Laveda found peace in the outdoors. She was an avid gardener who loved being in nature and taking long walks. Her home was a place of warmth, kept with care, and always filled with the aroma of her cooking.

Laveda is survived by her daughters, Terimy Anderson and Wendy Hollingsworth (husband Chris); her brother, Phillip Stout; and her sisters, Janice Nelson, Eva Jo Watson, Ann Egerland, and Jean Hamelman. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bobby Anderson and Benny McCartney; and her beloved son, Stephen Anderson.
