WATERTOWN - Madeline R. Pitcher passed peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 19th at the Samaritan Keep Home.
She was born in the Town of Montague, Lewis County, New York, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Sesock) Repak. Madeline was one of twelve children brought up on the family farm. Madeline graduated from Lowville Free Academy in June of 1947. She married Leonard J. Pitcher in August, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church in Watertown.
Madeline worked as a secretary at Asbestos Casket Company in Lowville following her graduation. She was a secretary and office manager for National Abstract Corporation and a secretary at Brownell Abstract in Watertown, from 1954 thru 1981. In 1981, she started working as a secretary for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County until her retirement in 1994.
Madeline and Leonard enjoyed many activities together. They enjoyed golfing at and were members of Willowbrook and Watertown Golf Clubs. They enjoyed frequent golfing trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. Dancing was another one of their favorite activities and they were members of the Cosmopolitan Club in Watertown. Cross-country skiing and walking in Thompson Park were often enjoyed.
Madeline and Leonard were members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and more recently Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a life member of the Town of Watertown Volunteer Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Robinson of Brownville; her grandson, Ryan Robinson and his wife Macayla of Brownville; her three great grandsons, Reid Robinson, Ryder Robinson and Reece Robinson; her sister, Irene Lehman of Lowville; many nieces and nephews.
Madeline is predeceased by parents, her husband Leonard, her son-in-law, Guy Robinson, her three brothers, Nicholas Repak, John Repak, and infant brother, Anthony Repak, her seven sisters, Mary Doviak, Helen Toth, Anna Petrus, Alice Chambers, Martha McDonald, Eva R. Millard, and Katherine Bernat.
A private burial will be held in Lowville Rural Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
