Madelyn Francis Kane Spurlock Lemmons, born December 19, 1925, in Portland, Maine, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Spurlock, in Temple, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 99½.
Madelyn lived a life marked by resilience, independence, and love for her family. She first married Charles James Spurlock, with whom she raised three children. After his passing, she later married Joyce Lemmons, who also preceded her in death.
In her working years, Madelyn built a respected career as an accountant and served as Secretary to the Vice President of Personnel at Tracor, Inc., where she eventually retired. In her personal life, she was known for her love of dancing and bowling.
She was the pillar of her family, embodying the strength of a woman who faced life with honesty, courage, and unshakable resilience. To those who knew her, she will always be remembered as the perfect picture of a strong, independent woman who deeply loved her family.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband’s Charles Spurlock and Joyce Lemmons, her grandson Scott Spurlock, her great-granddaughter Ashlynn Williams, and her son-in-law Don Zupka.
She is survived by her children: Michael Spurlock and his wife Dorothy of Arkansas; Shirley Zupka of Virginia; and David Spurlock and his wife Sheila of Temple, Texas.
She also leaves behind a loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Belinda Wheeler and her husband John, with children Jessica and Christian; Becky Spurlock and her husband Jeff Mundkowsky, with children Madeline and Miles; Jamie Spurlock and his wife Sacha; Greg Zupka; Michele Warr, with daughters Kourtney Warr and Kendall Hulbert and her husband Alec; Steven Spurlock and his husband Cory Beckner; Lauren Williams and her husband Chris, with children Maiya, Ava, and Lena; and Taylor Carlson and her husband Grant, with children Rosalie and Hayes.
Through her marriage to Joyce, she is also survived by a loving extended family, including Jayla Geick and her husband David, with children Heather and Sydney. Heather’s children are Kaytlynn, Rhyatt, and Rowdy, along with stepson Kasen. Sydney’s children are Maverick and Bently, along with stepchildren Malaya and Karter. Lynn Lemmons and his wife Linda also survive with her sons Jacob and Jason. Jason and his wife Tori have three children: Bear, Colt, and Luna.
Her legacy of strength, honesty, and love will continue to live on in each of them.
Arrangements are under the care of Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 N. Main Street, Belton, Texas 76513. Graveside services will take place Wednesday, September 3, 2025, 10:00AM at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
