Madge Blanton Lucente

Mrs. Madge Elizabeth Blanton Lucente, 97, of York and formerly of Indian Land, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at White Oak Manor in York.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Caruso officiating.
Born in Gaffney, Madge was one of eight children born to the late Bate Blanton and Murphy Bridges Blanton. She met Rocco Lucente while he was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina during WWII. They were married and had three sons. Madge loved her husband and children and considered herself a homemaker; but she also had a successful career with Tupperware, earning the title "Charlotte District Manager". She and her husband also enjoyed gardening before he passed away in 2017; they had been married for 70 years.
Surviving are three sons, Richard Lucene (Lorraine) of York, Jim Lucente (Sue) of Lake Wylie, and Johnny Lucente of Indian Land; her brother, Bobby Blanton of Blacksburg; five grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and even great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rocco John Lucente (2017); three brothers, Leiford Blanton, Hubert Blanton, and Lyle Blanton; and three sisters, Margie Blanton, Hatchell Blanton, and Shirley Blanton.
