Mae Judge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Bloomfield on Mar. 9, 2026.
Mae Judge, the Glamor Queen, sashayed from earth to heaven on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 9:02 AM after having a wonderful breakfast. Mae was born into the Hallums family in South Carolina. She had a full and happy life filled with faith, loved ones and friends. Sunday gatherings with her children were her favorite pastime. She loved the phrase "shop until you drop!" If you were lucky enough to accompany her on one of her shopping outings, you know that was exactly what she did. She meticulously looked for unique pieces so that she could be original wherever she went.

She greeted you with a smile and left you awestruck by her beauty and fashion sense. In her early days Mae was a real beauty queen as she competed in local Miss USA pageants. As she mastered the runways her beauty, brains, elegance and her spirit of excellence were on full display.

She worked for many years at Connecticut Student Loan Foundation where she made many lifetime friends like Ann Marie Mahoney, Mary Donaghue, Nereida Ortiz, Sawon, Sylvia Mitchell and Carol Shafer. She became a strong advocate of their work environment as a Chief Stewart of Local 1103, Communication Workers of America, AFL-CIO. Over her many years in that role, she enjoyed attending the annual union conferences in Las Vegas, Miami and San Francisco.

Mae was a strong, elegant and generous woman. Her flare was only matched by her love for her family. She was raised by incredibly strong mothers at different stages of her life - Virgina (Hallums) Reid and Anna Bell Peg. She was also loved by her brothers David Reid and Ray Peg. Later in life she inherited an extended family headed by "Mama" Alice and "Papa" George Ellison, parents of her beloved.

Mae will be treasured in the hearts of many and she leaves her children: Gregory L. Hallums, Sr., Larry D. Hallums, Sr., Tony C. Judge, Sr., and Eric R. Judge; her grandchildren: Gregory, L. Hallums Jr., Marche Hallums, Nyre Hallums, Inisha Hallums, Shatika Byrd, Tracee Hallums, Larry, D. Hallums Jr., Tony Jamel Judge, Tony C. Hernanadez Hallums; 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews (Pegs, Orrs, and Judges), and special cousins: Cynthia Grayson, Joe Hallums, Mary Hallums, Timmy Hallums and Terry Hallums.
