Mae Francis "Sister Bae" Rucker

Mae Rucker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mack's Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Elberton on Dec. 16, 2025.
Mrs. Mae Francis Hunter was born to Mr. Steve and Mrs. Rosa Lee (Wells) Hunter in Lincolnton, Georgia on May 23, 1944. She began her childhood in Lincolnton, Georgia until moving to Elberton, Georgia in her early elementary years. Mrs. Mae Francis accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. She was a member of Vance Creek Baptist Church (Elberton, Ga.) In the latter year and a half of her life, she was under the Ministry watch care of Guiding Light Ministries (Gainesville, Ga.)

In her early 20's she married Mr. Charles "Shot" Rucker and became widowed due to his untimely passing. Mrs. Mae Francis was blessed with two children, a son Bobby Hunt, and her daughter Ella Denise Hardman. From her legacy through Mr. Bobby and Ms. Denise her grandchildren were born, Mr. Johntra'Vis Hardman, Ms. De'Neisha Moon, and the twins Ms. Trinity Hunt and Ms. Angel Hunt.

Mrs. Mae Francis was affectionately called "Sister Bae" by all of her family and close friends. She will be remembered for her witty personality, being the "life of the party", caring for her parents in the latter years of their life, as well as assisting in the raising and caregiving of her nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. The only thing she loved as much as her family was her "snuff".

On December 16, 2025, after 18 months of living to overcome an illness, God called "Sister Bae" home to rest in Jesus as she received her total healing that Tuesday morning. Mrs. Mae Francis fought the good fight and finished her course on this side awaiting that great resurrection morning of the saints at the return of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Mae Francis is preceded in death by her father Mr. Steve Hunter; Mother Mrs. Rosa Lee Hunter, Husband Mr. Charles Rucker. Siblings: Mrs. Irene "Red" Hawkins, Mr. Columbus "Bo" Hunter, Mrs. Mildred Johnson, Mr. Bennie Lee "Ben" Hunter, Mrs. Hazel Allen; and her only grandson Mr. Johntra'Vis Hardman.

She leaves to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy to her son Deacon Bobby (Pastor Zora) Hunt, (Dacula, GA.), her daughter Ms. Denise Hardman (Anderson, SC.) and Granddaughters Ms. De'Neisha Moon (United States Air Force, CA.), Ms. Trinity Hunt and Ms. Angel Hunt (Atlanta, GA.) A precious limb on the Hunter Family Tree has fallen, but the tree remains standing strong with her siblings Mrs. Jezzie Lee "Grandma" Rucker, Mrs. Mamie "Tan" Allen, Mrs. Jenny Rucker, Mrs. Gladys "Mat" Rucker, Mr. Steve (Ruth) Hunter, Ms. Cora "Coat" Hardman – all of Elberton, GA. "Sister Bae" also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, in-laws, friends, and church families at Vance Creek Baptist Church and Guiding Light Ministries to remember the life, love, laughter, and legacy of such an unforgettable beautiful soul.
