Mae Anna Wademan Obituary
Mae Anna Wademan of Harrison, peacefully passed away on June 18, 2024 at Saint Michael's Hospital in
Newark, NJ. She was 81 years young.
Born in
Brooklyn, NY, the youngest of 5 children, Mae was affectionately known to her loved ones as Mamie. She was raised in Harrison and called it home her entire life. She was always proud of her roots and of her family. Having Faith and being faithful was instilled in her and her siblings at a young age. She was a well mannered child and a good student attending Holy Cross School up to High School Graduation. She went on to study business for a short time before landing her first job after her father suddenly passed away at a young age. Duty, determination, responsibility and selflessness would quickly form the wonderful person she truly was inside.
Mae was predeceased by and is now joined with her dear family in Heaven - her grandfather, Andrew Maisano - father and mother, Joseph & Marion Wademan, - sister, Anastasia - brothers, Joseph Wademan Jr., Robert Wademan, John Wademan & sister in law, Donna Wademan and niece, Lori Ann Wademan.
She was a devout Catholic parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Harrison where she met most of her wonderful lifelong friends. You may have encountered Mamie and a group of lovely ladies and gentlemen cleaning the church inside and out, volunteering at Bingo, marching for charity, or just taking care of one another in life. In her slow gear, Mae's pastime was reading books or news on her iPad to keep up with national politics and current events. She also enjoyed daily outings with her best friends and visiting their favorite spots to eat or have coffee. Throughout her life, Mamie was very close with her nephews who grew up with her spending a lot of quality time together.
Always sitting on the edge of her seat, eager to leap up to lend a helping hand. Mamie was full of energy that matched her generosity, she delighted in giving from her heart. Not an occasion, birthday or random obscure holiday went by without her celebrating it with a happy greeting or a goodie to share. She made certain everyone was remembered and they never went without. She was kind and loyal and it was reflected in the company she kept. Mamie loved her family and friends near and far and had a lot of frequent flyer miles logged to make sure she showed up. She adored and spoiled her God Children texting them "Love U & Sleep Peacefully" messages every single night.
Before retiring, Mae found her passion and power as a Bond Trader on Wall Street in the early 60s through the 1980s. She may have been small, but she was fierce and as fiery as her red hair. Never shy at standing up to a challenge because she was a quick and fervent learner with the kind of wisdom that comes from the old school. Always a "Long story short" Mae Anna had many a character story about those she did business with through the years. Still, she spoke humbly about her tales from the City expressing gratitude for the experiences and friendships it provided her. She missed the hustle but never slowed down dedicating more time for home and lovingly tending to friends and family who fell ill, her dear mother, sister and many cherished cats. She never complained or expressed regret, even in her final days. To her, it was a full life of love, living it the way she wanted. They just don't make them like Mamie anymore. She was 1 in a million to all who loved her.
Mae Anna leaves behind many loving nephews, nieces and her sister in law- Marie Wademan (wife of the late Robert Wademan) & Joseph Wademan, both of NV - John Wademan, of NJ - Robert Wademan & his wife, Valerie and children, Rhiannon & Robert Jr., of CA - David Wademan & his fianceé, Danielle and sons, Corey & Thomas, of NJ - Michael Wademan & his wife, Allison and children, Clifford, Michael Jr. & Kelly, of NJ. Also mourning are Mamie's dearest friends, Susan Hughes and Peter Pupke, both of NJ, as well as many more adoring friends far and wide feeling her loss.
