Maggie M Shelton

Maggie Shelton, 94, of Grafton, went home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2025.
Maggie was born on December 9, 1930, to Sallie Horn Short and Alex Richard Short in Richlands, Virginia. She married Milton Blinford Shelton on Valentine's Day in 1949 and the couple moved to Ohio to start their family in 1951. She furthered her education by earning a diploma from Normandy High School in 2002 and she attended Berea Bible College from 2008 to 2010. Maggie worked as an Inspector at various manufacturing plants for 24 years before retiring in 1993. She always enjoyed making crafts and flower arrangements. Later in life, Maggie enjoyed making many new friends working part-time at the Carlisle Township Flea Market well into her 80s. She was very active in the Cross Community Church for over 25 years, serving in various positions and previously leading the senior group, the Mature Saints. When asked the secret to living so long, she said "Serving the Lord."
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, of 62 years, her son Garland Wayne Shelton (Patty), daughter Madelyn Carol Fox (Edward), and numerous siblings. She is survived by her son Russell E. Shelton (Carrie), grandchildren Matthew Shelton (Robin), Amie Shelton, Kevin Shelton (Brittany), and Sandra McIntosh (David), and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria and from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Cross Community Church, 525 Abbe Rd. N in Elyria. A celebration of life service to follow at 10 a.m.
Rev. Randy McKinney officiating. Burial will be held immediately following at Brookdale Cemetery, 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd. in Elyria.
