Maggie Smith, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 16, 1944, in Bell County, Kentucky, Maggie was a dedicated associate at Walmart before retiring, and her dedication and commitment to her work were admired by her colleagues and supervisors alike. An avid gardener, Maggie found solace and joy in her plants, nurturing them with as much love as she did her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Ann Nelson; parents, Henry Murphy and Lula Slusher Murphy; grandson, Patrick Taylor; and by nine siblings
Maggie was an exceptional woman; whose kindness, compassion, and love radiated to all those around her. She was the rock that held her family together, always present and always caring. She was a constant caregiver to her family and friends, always there with a helping hand, a comforting word, or a shoulder to lean on.
She is survived by her children, David Nelson (Stacy), Dorothy Daniels (William), Lisa Weddle (Joey Houston), Debbie Weddle, and Mike Weddle (Tonya); grandchildren, Teresa Kearney, Tony Taylor, Angela May, Brittany Weddle, Crystal Johnson, Violet Reyes, Tkeyah McCulley, Brenda Brison, Tiffany Lawson, Travis Nelson, Misty Hill, Mikie Weddle, Eric Turner, and Jace Nelson 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Cox (J. C.) and R.B. Murphy (Jackie); and by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will all mourn her passing.
Visitation for Maggie Smith will be from 6-9 pm on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Her graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at 11am at Lynn Camp Cemetery in Corbin, KY, with Bro. William Daniels officiating.
