Majna Plesko, born on May 24, 1964, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, was a radiant beacon of compassion, resilience, and wit. Her warm laughter echoed in the hearts of those who knew her, while her resilience was an inspiration to all. Majna spent her early years in Slovenia, cultivating close and loving relationships with her mother, Mirella Plesko, and brother, Mark Plesko, relationships that would continue to nourish her throughout her life.
Majna graduated from Gimnazija Vic High School in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She received a BS in Physics from the University of Ljubljana where her thesis was on designing the reconstruction algorithm for a PET scanner. Majna was an exceptional student, with her brilliance leading her to receive a prestigious scholarship to the University of Utah's Biomedical Engineering Department. Here, she worked towards a PhD, an achievement that mirrored her tenacious spirit and intellect. However, Majna's journey was not confined to academia. She was a student of His Holiness Buddha Maitreya, Jesus the Christ, and her journey led her to volunteer as a full-time nun for the Church of Shambhala. Her faith was her guiding star, and she carried it with her always. In the words of Buddha, "Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life." Majna lived this truth and used her faith to light the lives of others.
Relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah, Majna made a home in the heart of the mountains. Her love of the region was reflected in her dedication to her community, where she established a meditation and healing center. She also ran a non-profit organization, Himalayan Hope. As a young girl, Majna enjoyed playing very demanding classical music on the accordion. Majna's hobbies, such as meditation, knitting, crocheting, and needlework, were a testament to her patience and creativity. Her humorous, engaging personality was the thread that connected all aspects of her life, making her a cherished member of her community.
Over the past year, Majna fought a valiant battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with friends by her side on 8/27/24.
In the five years prior to her illness, Majna found another way to help people: she provided customer support for doTERRA to people in countries such as Slovenia, Slovakia, and Hungary. She was able to use her native language in business in the USA. Diligent and detail-oriented as always, she helped customers with diverse problems. Her excellent work gained her a promotion to team lead/manager, where she helped not only customers, but also taught, coached, and guided her coworkers to become better people.
Majna is survived by her mother, Mirella Plesko; her brother, Mark Plesko, and his wife, Katarina; her nephew, Erik Plesko; and her niece, Ema Plesko. She is preceded in death by her father, Vili Plesko. As we remember Majna, we invite you to reflect on her life, her spirit, and her unwavering love for those around her.
