Edward "Eddie" John Plesko Jr, a resident of
Bannister, Michigan died on June 18, 2023 at the age of 64. Ed was born on November 15, 1958 in
Carson City, Michigan. He was the son of Edward and Blanche Plesko.
Ed was a 1977 graduate of Ashley High School. Ed was a gifted artist and welder who worked alongside his dad at Plesko Sheet Metal in Ashley for many years. Eddie also taught welding classes with Alma High School's vocational education program and was a co- originator of the 'Ashley Silverdome'. With a great sense of humor, Eddie joked that he was supposed to be 6'3" had it not been for the darn mosquitos! Making light of any situation, bringing a laugh to others was one thing Ed always strived for.
Ed was a true woodsman; his passion was for the woods and water. Born on the opening day of deer season, he loved to connect with nature locally and in the Upper Peninsula. He hunted for white tail deer in the cedar swamps like his father and grandfather before him. He considered himself a "Yooper" and many would have guessed he came from across the bridge. Some of his best stories were of great times fishing with friends and family at Munuscong Bay. Collecting Native American artifacts was of great spiritual significance to Ed and he felt truly connected when he was fortunate enough to find them. He loved his property in Bannister and "his people'' in the local Ashley community. Eddie cherished his friendships and easily made new ones with his great sense of humor. He also loved horses, his green flannels, and alternative music on the Impact 88.9 radio station as "Ed the Welder''.
Eddie was a very special brother to his sister Cathy. He was a great father to his children and grandchildren, whom he shared his passion for the outdoors with. He would do anything for them. Ed always encouraged his children to pursue their passions and had great pride in their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr and Blanche (Micka) Plesko and infant sister, Jayne Sue Plesko; Grandparents, Tony and Ellie (Stehlik) Micka; and Stephen and Katherina Plesko. He is survived by his children, Jill Plesko (Sam Herman), John Plesko (Ellen Plesko), Jaime Plesko-Arndt (Derek Arndt); his grandchildren Henrik, Nolan, Luca, and Ayla; his sister, Catherine (Plesko) Warner (Robert Warner) and many loving extended family members and dear friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Bannister ZCBJ Hall, 401 E Main St,
Bannister, Michigan, 1 PM.
