Minister Major McGuire, IV

Minister Major McGuire, IV was born on August 3, 1992, to Dr. Major McGuire, III and the late Rev. Darlene Thomas McGuire. Major was the child God promised to his mother. His arrival in this world was surrounded by faith, hope, and fervent prayer. Shortly after birth, he spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at New York Hospital for Children in New York, New York. Even in those earliest days, God’s hand was evident upon his life. Nurses would often say, “We don’t know why they sent him here. There’s nothing wrong with him. Maybe he came here to encourage the other babies.” From the very beginning, Major’s life reflected divine purpose.

Affectionately known as “Little Mac” to distinguish him from his father, Major’s loving spirit and radiant smile left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. He truly never met a stranger. With warmth and authenticity, he made people feel seen, valued, and comfortable. He had a gift for meaningful conversation and could engage anyone for hours, leaving them uplifted, encouraged, and inspired.

Major attended the public schools of the Bronx, New York, and later Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from Mallard Creek High School in 2010 and furthered his education at Central Piedmont Community College.

Creativity flowed naturally through Major. He loved writing short stories, drawing inspiration from the privileged travel experiences he enjoyed as a youth and teenager. He had a deep love for movies, especially animated films during his childhood, and became an avid movie enthusiast in later years. His appreciation for storytelling blossomed into a love for theater production, which he pursued and realized as an adult.

Major received his spiritual foundation and Christian education at Emmanuel Baptist Church in the Bronx, New York. At the age of eight, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized by his father. His Christian journey continued to flourish at The Park Church, Bethel Outreach International Church, and Life Changing Church, all in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Major had a love for music and singing. He served faithfully on the praise and worship ministry where he was able to share his passion. Major was not shy about his worship. He loved God and loved worshipping Him. Major had a strong belief in the power of prayer that was evident in his prayer life.

Recognizing the call of God on his life, Major wholeheartedly embraced ministry. He used social media, particularly Facebook, as a platform to preach, inspire, encourage, and uplift people far and wide. Through scripture, prayer, and heartfelt exhortation, he ministered to countless individuals. Minister Major preached his initial sermon at Life Changing Church and was licensed to preach the Gospel on October 8, 2021. He carried his calling with humility, boldness, and unwavering faith.

One of Major’s greatest joys and most treasured callings was fatherhood. He loved being a father and embraced the role with pride, tenderness, and intentionality. His children were the light of his life and a constant source of motivation and joy. Whether offering guidance, sharing laughter, attending important milestones, or speaking words of affirmation and prayer over them, Major was fully present and deeply devoted.

He was the proud father of Mason Thompson and Major McGuire, V, and he lovingly embraced Tori Braithwaite as his bonus daughter. He did not see fatherhood as merely a title, but as a responsibility entrusted to him by God. His love for his children reflected strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Being “Dad” was one of the roles he cherished most. Major united in marriage to Min. Tammy McGuire on September 21, 2025.

Minister Major McGuire went from labor to reward on February 17, 2026. His life was a testimony of God’s promise fulfilled. His journey was marked by faith, courage, prayer, purpose, love, creativity, compassion, and an unshakable devotion to Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rev. Darlene Thomas McGuire.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving wife, Min. Tammy McGuire, Charlotte, NC; his beloved two sons, Mason Thompson and Major McGuire, V, Charlotte, NC; his loving bonus daughter, Tori Braithwaite-Love, Charlotte, NC; his devoted father and bonus mother, Dr. Major McGuire, III and Overseer Dorothy A. McGuire, Charlotte, NC; his loving siblings, Dr. Marteka Carroll (Dennis), Venus, TX, Me’sha McGuire Covington, GA; Dr. Marlow McGuire (Rhonda), Grand Prairie, TX, Marquis McGuire and Mariah McGuire, Charlotte, NC; one niece and six nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a devoted group of friends.

Though our hearts grieve, we do not sorrow as those without hope. We celebrate a life well lived, a purpose fulfilled, and a soul now resting in the presence of the Lord. His legacy of faith, encouragement, and love will continue to echo through generations
