Makala was born in Holland, Michigan, on June 17, 1997, the daughter of Daniel and Denise (LePoire) Newhouse. Makala attended Zeeland Christian, and Holland Christian High School, class of 2016. Makala was a member of Foundry Church. Wherever Makala went it was filled with smiles, hugs, and loving & caring greeting of friends. Special Olympics and Camp Sunshine were her favorite things. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Donald Newhouse in 2023, and her cousin Nickolas Watson in 2001.
She is survived by her parents Dan and Denise Newhouse, siblings: Bethanie and Adam Houtman (and their son Charles), Matthew Newhouse, Hannah Newhouse(Mitchell Arndt), grandparents: Marvin and Donna LePoire, Laurie Newhouse; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
A service to celebrate Makala's faith and life will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Foundry Church, 425 100th Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. Please do not wear black, please choose something fun, colorful and vibrant, just like Makala. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464, and also 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm prior to the service at Foundry Church. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery (Felch Street). Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Sunshine, Suite 6, 291 W. Lakewood Blvd., Holland MI 49424. www.yntemafh.com
