Malcolm Charles McEwen of Sullivan, Missouri departed this life January 26, 2010 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital having reached the age of eighty four years and twenty three days. He was born on January 3, 1926 at St. Louis, Missouri a son to the late Charles McEwen and Genivie (Hinch) McEwen. Malcolm served in the United States Army from 1944-1946. Some of the medals he got were World War II Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Medal w/two Bronze Service Stars, Army of Occupation Medal w/ Germany Clasp and Good Conduct Medal. Malcolm was a member of the VFW in Sullivan. In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife Ethel McEwen and a son Robert Lynn McEwen. Those who remain to mourn his passing are a daughter Karen Elaine Taylor of Sullivan; four sons Malcolm Charles McEwen Jr. and wife Joyce of Florida; Gerald Lester McEwen and wife Maggy of Potosi; Larry Allen McEwen and wife Alma of Park Hills; Ronald Keith McEwen and wife Janet of Sullivan; two sisters Violet Jarvis of Desoto; Mildred Ames of St. Louis; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Warren Smith officiating. Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
