Mandy Box Obituary
Mandy was born and raised in Coke County, Texas and graduated from Robert Lee High School. She was active in sports, cheerleading and debate, where she and her partner won the Texas state debate championship in 1973. She later earned both bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa.
She was married to Frank Box on January 12, 1974 in Robert Lee, and they went on to have three children together. Mandy raised a family while also working as an elementary school teacher and later as a school counselor. She started her career with the Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, and ultimately retired from the Pasadena Independent School District in the Houston area.

Mandy loved a quiet evening at home with a good book and a hot cup of tea. She also enjoyed travel and adventure, particularly to the Rocky Mountains where she and Frank vacationed almost every summer during their marriage of over 50 years. Her favorite thing, though, was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren who she cherished and loved dearly.
Mandy is preceded in death by her parents Mary Jo and J.D., and she is survived by her husband Frank, son Damon (Lisa) Box, daughter Erin (Chris) Cross, son Brandon (Candice) Box and eight loving grandchildren. She was the rock and foundation of her family, was beloved by all, and will be missed greatly.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Shaffer Funeral Home located at 901 Austin St. in Robert Lee. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9th, at Robert Lee Baptist Church with burial in Paint Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Robert Lee Baptist Church, Pecan Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
