Mani Subramanian died peacefully in Winter Springs Florida on March 14, 2025 at the age of 87. Mani is survived by his son Janak, daughter Priya, son-in-law Edward, and dear grandson Myles.
He will be missed by his brother Naryanan and sister Meena in India. He is preceded in death by both his parents, brothers Bala, Sundar and sister Gnanam.
Mani traveled from India to Canada in the 60s, starting in Halifax and making his way through Toronto and ultimately settling in Windsor, Ontario where he began to raise his family. During this time he became active in the Tamil Sangam of Michigan. "Windsor Mani", as he was known to the members living in Michigan, put on and acted and sang in plays, concerts, and had a very busy social calendar. His house was the gathering place for food, laughter, and music. He eventually moved to Michigan, where he became involved with the Parashakti temple, and began dedicating himself to his spirituality. In his golden years, he moved to Florida where he continued his devotion to God. Known as Mani Maama to the community at the Hindu Society of Central Florida, he showed up everyday to chant, sing and pray. He prayed to Lord Shiva, and chanted his name during his final days.
Mani was loved and respected by his nieces & nephews; Anu, Geetha, Vidya, Sriram, Kanan, Shanti, Maya, Aravind, Yamini, Soumya, and will be remembered fondly by his family as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. He always had a smile, made those around him happy, and brought laughter to the people he loved.
His viewing will be held at 10am on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at DeGusipe Funeral Home at 9001 Orlando Ave. Maitland Florida. For those viewing the live stream, please see the link below.
