Manly Wright, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Bladenboro on December 18, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on July 31, 1947, in Bladen County.
Manly was deeply rooted in his family and is survived by his children, Paula Edwards and her husband Joel, Mark Todd, Ricky Todd, and Joey Todd and his wife Penny. He cherished the role of grandfather to Austin Monroe, who was a bright spot in his life. Manly also shared a close bond with his siblings, including Lizzie Holley and her husband Robin, Mary Lee Pidgeon, Janice Wright, and Bobby Wright, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
As a loving companion, he was cared for by Janice Coker, who provided steadfast support and companionship throughout his later years. He also enjoyed a remarkable friendship with Kimble Jones, whose bond with Manly was as close as that of brothers.
Manly was preceded in death by his parents, Mennon Obed Wright and Mary Edwards Wright, and his daughter Amanda Wright. He also mourned the loss of his siblings, Phenie Watterson and Obie Wright, Kimberly Pidgeon, his niece and his nephews Zane Pidgeon and Tim Wright. Their memories were cherished, and he carried them in his heart throughout his life.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Manly's life during the visitation with family on December 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 3:00 PM with Rev. David Kelly and Rev. Charles Tatum, officiating. Both services will be held at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 3131 M.L.K. Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
Manly Wright will be remembered for his dedication to his work, the love he shared with his family, and the countless lives he touched during his lifetime. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
