Manotte Etienne

Manotte Etienne was carried to heaven on the wings of angels early Monday morning, March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving and supported wife to Dr. Gracia Etienne and the loving mother to Valliolah Marcia Etienne ("Vallie") and Van Arsdale Theophane Etienne ("Dale").

Manotte was born in Gonaïves, Haïti on March 2, 1964, to Josana Théodore and the late Innocent Mercedat. She obtained a Bachelor of Art in Political Sciences at Brooklyn College SUNY before her Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing at Howard University. She further received a Master's Degree in Nursing at Millersville University.

Manotte worked as a Registered Family Nurse Practitioner for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she took a Christ-centered and patient-focused approach to healthcare. Manotte loved life and was a genuinely born caretaker. She enjoyed talking, spending time with family, Interior Decorating, Reading, and Worshipping. She was always learning and was willing to teach anyone who was willing to learn. She was a faithful and active member of Family Life Ministries Intl. under the leadership of Bishop Wendell B. Burden and Dr. Juanita L. Burden. Manotte gave of herself unselfishly. With her husband, she co-founded the MIVO Foundation to provide free medical care in Haïti.

Manotte leaves behind her husband Gracia and her children Vallie and Dale. Her departure is also mourned by her mother Josana and her two closest siblings, her sister Gilberte Merceda and her brother Richardson Joseph. In addition, her memory will be cherished by a host of other brothers, sisters, Godchildren, family members and friends.
