Manuel Lewis Harrison, 77, of Commerce passed away on Saturday morning January 18, 2025, at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Commerce.

Manuel’s journey began June 15, 1947, in Linden, Texas. Birth name Manuel Lewis Harrison, the oldest child of eight, to the parentage of Manuel and Vera Harrison, both preceded him in death. Three (3) siblings also preceded him in death, one sister Ora Lee Harrison-Rhodes, two (2) brothers, Odell Harrison, and Billy Harrison. As a child Manuel was very mischievous. Most of the time his siblings Johnny and Minnie received the worst of his pranks. Manuel confessed Christ at an early age. In 1963 the family moved from Linden, Texas to Sachse, Texas.

Manuel received his formal education in the Garland Independent School District. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School, class of 1965. Upon Graduation he attended Bishop College, in Dallas, Texas. In 1967 he was drafted in the United States Army, where he served his country in the Vietnam War. After being Honorably discharged, he secured a job with the United States Corp of Engineers until he retired and move to Commerce Texas. He united with the Disciple of Faith Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Mitchell Scott. When his health failed, he would virtually attend the True Vine BC of Campbell, Texas with his sister Minnie.

He loved to hang with family and have fun. He was the only one that could aggravate our mother to no end and get away with it. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2018, his faith grabbed hold of God’s hand and never let go. He would often say “Whatever God has for me I am satisfied.” He never complained, but trusted God and the Great Medical Staff at UT Southwestern. His family became part of his lifeline. Prayer, Power, and Praise. God blessed him with the greatest caregivers, his niece Jacqueline Amos, and brother-in-law John, the cook. He read The Word daily, and he fought a good fight. Now he has the victory.

He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Gwendolyn Maxie (Anthony-Favorite Son-In-Law) Shreveport, Louisiana, Two sons Gary Richardson, Lewisville, Texas, and James Richardson (Jodie) Dallas, Texas. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. One brother, Johnny Lee Harrison (Joann), Dallas, Texas, three sisters Minnie Luckey (John), Commerce, Texas, Jewel Nealon (Gary) Dallas, Texas, and Teresa Craddock (Mark) of Lancaster, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, that he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Clay Price officiating and Rev. Johnny E.C. Moses Brown eulogist.  Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Luckey, Jeremy Luckey, Garrett Smith, Jonathan Luckey, Robert Choate and Marlon Harrison.  Honorary pallbearers are John E. Luckey, Randy Reynolds, Fred Johnson, Darius Booth, Jonas Luckey and Mark Craddock.
