Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of TaosIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel R. Morgas, a beloved figure to all who knew him, on August 11, 2025. Born on January 1, 1932, in the beautiful town of Taos, New Mexico, Manuel lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an enduring spirit of community.
He is preceded in death by his wife Teodorita Morgas, son, Michael Morgas, grandson, Joseph Morgas, and his parents, Jose and Sara Morgas. He is survived by his daughter, Faith Morgas-Tafoya (Eric), grandchildren, Nicholas Morgas, Jennifer Trujillo, Eric J. Tafoya, great-grandchildren, Jordan Tafoya, Madison Tafoya, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As a devoted Mill Mechanic for the Moly Corp. Mine, Manuel embodied the essence of hard work. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his beliefs as a devoted Jehovah Witness, often found tinkering with cars and heavy equipment in his spare time, constantly driven by both a love for mechanics and a desire to enhance the world around him. His steadfast approach to life was rooted in the values he learned from ranching cattle during his upbringing, instilling in him a respect for hard labor and the beauty of nature. Even amidst the rigor of work, Manuel always found solace in the great outdoors, taking time to fish and appreciate the serene landscapes that surrounded him.
A man of great charisma and joy, Manuel took immense pleasure in the social fabric of his friends and family. As a young man he enjoyed going to dances and was know as "El Bailador" for his dancing abilities. The laughter and memories created under the twinkle of lights at these gatherings were a testament to his generous spirit.
Though Manuel left school at a young age to drive and work alongside his father, he never ceased to be a seeker of knowledge and skilled trades, continuously honing his craft. His life reflects a remarkable journey – one that celebrates a deep bond with family and friends and a profound connection with the land he loved.
Manuel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, who will forever carry the memory of him in their hearts. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, reminding us all to embrace the joys of today, the love of family, and the importance of hard work and a strong faith.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and eternally cherished.
Memorial service will be held August 30, 2025 at 1:00PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Gusdorf Rd.
