Manuel Rodriguez

Manuel Rodriguez, of Seguin, Texas, entered eternal life on April 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Manuel was born September 17, 1938 to Jose Rodriguez and Ofelia Cuellar. 

Manuel was preceded in death by his grandpa; Hilario Cuellar, mother; Ofelia Becomo, grandson; Bryan Sepeda, aunts; Eudelia Cuellar and Andrea Cuellar, uncle: Eliasar Cuellar, niece; Michelle Rodriguez, nephew; David Ybanez. 

He is survived by his wife Mary Rodriguez, son Manuel Rodriguez Jr., daughter Lisa Teneyuque and husband Rick, daughter Delia Rios and husband Edward and 3 grandsons, sister Betty Grace and husband Tom, brother Joe C Rodriguez and wife Priscilla, sister Olivia Jackson, sister Ofelia Ybanez, step granddaughter Tracy Le and husband Derek.

Serving as pallbearers will be Miguel Gamez, Richard Sanchez, Gilbert Moreno, David Burns, Michael Boeneke and Russell Doege.

Honorary pallbearers include Tino Pacheco, Alfredo Herrera, Joe Patterson, Pete Barrientez, Cornelio Molina and Rene Sanchez.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating.

A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, April 12, 2024  at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church . Interment with Airforce Honors will follow at Santo Thomas Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Fiesta Ballroom. Those attending the reception are asked to kindly park in front of the Fiesta Ballroom

Manuel was in the United States Airforce where he played baseball at Barksdale AFB, Harmon AFB in Newfoundland, Hunter AFB, Bergstrom AFB and Laughlin AFB.  When he was stationed in Bergstrom AFB he played fast-pitch softball with the Pan American Aces. 

After receiving Honorable Discharge from the USAF he continued his baseball career with the SMI Steelers, Seguin White Sox and the Seguin Aztecs. Manuel coached Little League baseball for more than 15 years, Little League fast-pitch softball for 10 years and many years of All-Star teams.

 He, along with other dedicated parents, was extremely instrumental with the inception of the Seguin Little League fast-pitch softball program and the Seguin High School fast-pitch softball program. Since the inception of the first fast-pitch softball team in the early 90's, several girls have had the opportunity to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level. Manuel was very proud of the advancement of the SHS fast-pitch softball program.
