Mara Reagan Barnes, age 21 of Loudon, passed away on May 30, 2024.
Our sweet little "Mare-Bear" had her life stolen from her by cancer, after first being diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma nine years ago at age 12.
Mara will be missed terribly by all who knew her. This world is a worse place without her.
Mara loved to have fun. She loved roller coasters, swimming, baking, eating yummy foods, watching movies with her family, spending time with her siblings and traveling. She particularly loved her frequent trips to Utah and Disney World. She loved the beach, and recently learned to surf in Hawaii.
Mara traveled to 33 states and five countries - including living in Japan for more than a year as a baby. Mara also liked to run and had a tradition of running the Thanksgiving Day 5K with her mom. She enjoyed reading, especially Agatha Christie books. She also enjoyed LEGO and had an extensive Harry Potter LEGO collection.
She also liked listening to music and attended several concerts with her family. Mara also liked making crafts and was very artistically talented.
Mara's dream in life was to become a radiation oncologist. She would have been a great doctor. She was caring and smart.
She always had all A's in school, and scored a 34 on the ACT. She was on full scholarship at the University of Tennessee - majoring in Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology until she was diagnosed with cancer again in 2023.
Mara is preceded in death by her Grandpa Mike Schaad (California). She is survived by her parents Jason and Holly Barnes, older sister Tess, younger brothers Davis and Emmett, grandparents Steve and Linda Barnes (Utah), Ron and Kathy Butcher (Utah), Fran Schaad (California), and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
A memorial will be held at The Reserve at Bluebird Hill (1413 Midway Road, Lenoir City, TN) on June 17, starting at 4:00 PM to celebrate Mara's life. Send floral items to Click Funeral Home by June 16th.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Mara's honor to the Make a Wish Foundation of East Tennessee or donating blood at Medic or your local blood bank.

It was a memory made a long time ago, but when Tess and I were friends in elementary school, I remember coming over to their house to play and eat Cookie dough. I remember the Bickering between sisters and how they made up soon after over a game of Mario cart. I know she will always be with her big sister.
