Mara Lee Searing, 74, Pittsville, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at United Church of Christ, Pittsville with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Pastor Asafa will officiate. Burial will take place at Mound Cemetery at a later date. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mara Lee Searing was born on January 3, 1952 to Dr. Robert D. and Betty (Wales) Capling. She attended Pittsville Schools and graduated in 1970. She attended University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and graduated in 1974.
On June 2, 1973, she married Carl Searing III. For most of their lives they lived in Whitewater, WI. Mara Lee worked in the Camps and Conference department at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. She retired in 2016 and moved back to Pittsville to live with her sister Wendy.
She was involved in the United Church of Christ in Pittsville. She played music for the services and occasionally played her flute or sung solos. Music was very important to her.
She was involved in many hobbies: knitting, card making, reading, gardening and fishing when she was younger. She was known to try almost every craft there was.
Mara Lee loved animals, especially her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Betty Capling, her husband Carl Searing, and nephew Luke Randall.
She is survived by her siblings: Wendy Bass, Robin (Cliff) Randall, and David Capling, nieces and nephews: Mark (Heidi) Randall, Chivaun Rabbitt, Joshua (Whitney) Rabbitt, Hope (Dylan Stienke) Capling, grandnieces and grandnephews: Austin Randall; Morgan, Madison and Aubrey Randall; Alivia, Dylan and Erica Schiferl; Cullen Rabbitt; Owen, Wesley, Oakleigh and Haidyn Capling, aunts and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Church of Christ - Pittsville or Pittsville Community Library.
