Maranda S. Richardson, 91, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 10, 1935 to the late J.W. and Janie Sue Sanders, Maranda moved to Oliver, Georgia at a young age, where she built her life and remained in the area for the rest of her days.
She attended Little Ogeechee Baptist Church, where her devotion and steady presence touched many lives. She was also a member of the Salt Club at Turkey Branch and The Egyptian Travels at Elam Egypt, forming lasting friendships and enjoying fellowship throughout the years.
Maranda’s home was known for its warmth and hospitality. She had a true gift for cooking and will always be remembered for her homemade biscuits.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Maranda enjoyed fishing and treasured peaceful moments spent by the water. She also had a deep love for gardening, carefully tending her plants and flowers with patience and pride.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Janie Sue Sanders; her beloved husband, Wade H. Richardson; her daughter, Debra Bunch; her son-in-law, Gene Middleton; and her siblings, Billy Sanders, Mary Alice Ethridge, Barbara Ann Lee, and Bobby Sanders.
Maranda is survived by her children, Donna Middleton; John Richardson (Bonnie); and Diane Joyner (Charles). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Bunch (Kara); Janie Phillips (Keenan); Melanie Smith (Arron); Jesse Joyner; and Jay Middleton (Tina).
She leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Mason Bunch; Kooper Bunch; Lawton Smith; Lainey Smith; Gene Middleton (Gabby); and Ashley Osburn (Holden); and her great-great-grandchildren, Miles Osburn; Denver Osburn; Adley Osburn; Samuel Osburn; Grant Middleton; and Grayson Middleton.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Little Ogeechee Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bro. Vernon Edenfield will be officiating
Serving as pallbearers will be Keenan Phillips, Wayne Igou, Alan Hodges, Dan Bunch, Duggie Bell, and Randy Williams.
