GEIGER, Marc, of Tampa, passed away on July 16, 2025. Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, Marc carried with him a strong sense of community, a love for the water, and an unwavering dedication to those around him.
A graduate of Champaign Central High School, Marc was an avid swimmer and proud member of the school's swim team. After graduation, Marc served his country in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1973. During his service, he earned the rank of Lieutenant. His passion for the water grew over the years, leading him to become a certified Master Diver. He participated in and led numerous group dives along Florida's east coast, finding peace and joy beneath the waves.
Marc pursued his technical interests with determination, completing a course in Airframe and Powerplant aircraft maintenance at the National Aviation Academy in Clearwater, Florida. He later moved to Macon, Georgia, before eventually settling back in the Tampa area in 1997.
For over 25 years, Marc was a dedicated employee at Moffitt Cancer Center, where he served in various ancillary roles. His presence and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Marc was preceded in death by his loving mother Mary Jane, father Ralph, father-in-law Gerald Chernoff, mother-in-law Lois Chernoff, brother-in-law David Chernoff, beloved stepdaughter Melanie Chernoff Yesner, and brother Steve.
He is survived by his devoted wife of over 26 years, Daryl, and his brother, Scott, his grandsons, Tyler and Jacob Yesner, were the light of his life and the source of his greatest pride and joy.
Marc will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and the deep love he held for his family, friends, and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in memory of Marc's daughter, Melanie.
