Marc Edward Jackson, age 53, of Burnsville, NC formerly of Little Switzerland, NC once posted on his Facebook page: “Be thankful for Today, Because in One Moment, Your Entire Life Can Change.” On Thursday, May 11, 2023, this came true as Marc left this world and stepped into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior.
Born on April 24, 1970 in McDowell County, he was the son of Carolyn Mason Manning. Marc is now reunited with his beloved grandparents, Joe and Geneva Mason whom he fondly referred to as “Pop and Nana.”
Marc was a graduate of McDowell High School in Marion. He had numerous jobs over the years, but his job driving for TWC Racing allowed him to see most of the continental United States. He was the owner and operator of C Manning Paint Service which he retired from. Marc was the energy in the room, everyone’s friend. He was a leader, not a follower. He never met a stranger, he loved the outdoors and embraced it all, from running races, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, motorcycle riding to his love of animals. He lived life to the fullest always with a smile that captivated everyone that he came in contact with. He loved and cherished his mother, Carolyn, and took her on many of his adventures. From Montana whitewater rafting, to Caribbean cruises, to trips to New York City. She often accompanied him when he went to run races and she was always there to cheer him on and encourage him to the finish line.
Marc found the love of his life in Melissa McCurry. They were each other’s soulmate. They enjoyed trips together to Alaska and to Hawaii but also enjoyed quiet evenings at their home in Burnsville with his “boys”, Bandit, Smokey, Chako, and their new sister, Beth.
Left to cherish Marc’s memory is his mother, Carolyn Mason Manning; his fiancé, Melissa McCurry; his daughter, Kaitlyn Curtis of Morganton; his son, Demetri Broadbent of Morganton; his grandchildren, Larsen, Braylen, Olivia, and Bella; a special niece, Ryan Manning; and his future step-children, Whitney, Ben, and Will McCurry. Marc also leaves behind a large tribe of family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A celebration of Marc’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastors Josh Cook and Matt Woody officiating. Burial will follow at Turkey Cove Cemetery. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Yancey County Humane Society, PO Box 1016, Burnsville, NC 28714.
