Rev. James “JD” McClellan, 81, of Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026 at his son’s residence in Marion.
He was born in Mitchell County on April 1, 1944 to the late Lee McClellan and Kate Washburn McClellan.
Rev. McClellan served at The Greens at Spruce Pine and ministered to the residents there for over 17 years. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He always had a love for classic cars. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew McClellan and Mark McClellan (Melissa); two grandsons, Bryant McClellan and James McClellan; and one brother, Arthur McClellan.
In keeping with his wishes, no services are planned.
