We are so heartbroken to announce the unexpecting passing of Marc Alan Lofland on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the age of 63.
Marc was born in Gulfport, MS on September 28, 1961, to Susie Riggs Lofland and Alfred “Al” Lofland. He resided in East Biloxi in Jackson County for the past 15 years. He graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1979 and had planned to join the Navy. However, a terrible wreck near the end of his junior year of high school ended those plans. He then began to have a serious interest in rock music. He met two people, Jerry Scruggs and Steve Nots, who he joined in forming a band called the August Sons, that eventually made two tours around the United States. They received two great reviews in National Music Magazine. Marc also had an Electronic Degree.
Marc loved motorcycles, Harley’s in particular. He was accepted into the Local Asgard MC and ultimately was a member for 21 years. He loved participating in the Memorial Day Blow Out and other charitable events each year, such as the Toy Run. Being able to help provide Christmas gifts to the less fortunate children was a big passion and joy of his. Marc eventually became disabled due to injuries of the wreck in high school and from his diabetes, but he was able to regain his abilities to ride and join the Asgard activities again. He was also a third degree Mason and belonged to the McLoed Lodge 424 F & A M.
Marc enjoyed being active on Facebook and enjoyed the Facebook community. He was so pleased to be a Facebook friend of our local hero and astronaut, Mr. Fred Haise. He attended Mr. Haise’s book signing in Biloxi in 2023. He was deeply interested in the stories of the Gemini and Apollo astronauts and watched many films about their life stories and flights in space. Marc loved that his dad played a part during some of those flights as a back up computer support to Houston, as his dad worked at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD during the mid.
Marc was interested in so many different things like nature, history, family history, motorcycles, music, and people in government. He had an amazing memory. He was a true friend to many. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and grandson. And most importantly, he had given his life to Christ and was saved. We truly believe he went to Heaven and is with Jesus now.
Marc was preceded in death by his loving father; infant twin brothers; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Iris Reeves Riggs; and by his paternal grandparents, Charles Lofland and Virginia Hastings Lofland.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving mother, Iris Anita “Susie” Riggs Lofland; brother, Eric Lofland; nephew Dana Lofland; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Marc Alan Lofland.
