Marcel O. Rajotte

1933 - 2026

Marcel Oliver Rajotte, 92 of Pittsfield, passed away February 11, 2026 at his home of 58 years after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Born in Bristol, CT on February 21, 1933, he was the son of Lucien and Antoinette Gagne Rajotte. Mr. Rajotte married Janet O'Brien in 1959, and together they raised five children. She predeceased him in 1998.

Marcel started his career at Bristol Machine and Tool Co. before joining General Electric in Plainville, CT., and then transferring to GE in Pittsfield in 1967. At GE he worked in many roles, finally as a Manufacturing Planner. After retiring from GE, he worked at Elm Street Hardware for 30 years. A faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church, he also served as a long-term care ombudsman, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels (Elder Services of Berkshire County), and Berkshire County Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He was an extremely active person, going to the gym three days a week, attending local concerts and events, maintaining his house and yard, and traveling to attend his grandchildren's events. He was loved by many who cherished his boundless energy, warm smile, sense of humor, and interest in the welfare of others.

Mr. Rajotte is survived by his children, Thomas Rajotte and wife Collette of Abington, MA, Sheila Marion and husband Glenn of Pittsfield, Peter Rajotte of Clifton Park, NY, Ellen McDowell and husband Jim of Middletown, DE, and Anne Rajotte and partner AJ Skowron of West Hartford, CT; a brother, Norman Rajotte of Ft. Collins, CO; twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He also leaves his significant other, Ann Costanzo of Pittsfield, two brothers-in-law, Gerald O'Brien and wife Anne of Avon, CT, and Richard O'Brien and wife Susan of Bristol, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ida Rajotte of Santa Fe, NM.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm St in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home.
